Editorial Policy
How content and calculators get written, checked, and corrected on this site.
Original content standard
Explanatory content is written specifically for each calculator, describing that formula's actual variables, assumptions, and use cases rather than reused generic boilerplate. Where a page needs to say something similar to another page - because two calculators genuinely share an assumption or a caveat — that's a deliberate, factual overlap, not copied filler.
Technical verification
Every formula is checked against authoritative references before publication, and every calculator is tested against independently computed known-answer cases. The full process is on the Accuracy & Methodology page.
Indexing and quality reviews
Search indexing issues are not treated as a reason to rewrite pages blindly. When Google reports a page as crawled but not indexed, the page is reviewed for thin content, weak internal links, missing user guidance, stale review status, duplicate intent, and unclear limitations. If the calculator is useful but the page needs stronger context, we improve the page and keep a dated internal review log before requesting reprocessing.
Use of AI assistance
Calculators and content on this site are developed with AI-assisted tools as part of the writing and engineering process - drafting explanatory text, writing and reviewing code, and helping verify formulas against references. AI assistance is used as a drafting and development aid, not as an unverified source of technical claims: every formula is independently checked against real references and tested with known-answer cases before it's published, exactly as described on the Accuracy & Methodology page. This disclosure is here because we'd rather tell you plainly than have you wonder.
Corrections
When a reported error is confirmed, the formula, its tests, and its surrounding explanation are corrected together, and the page's reviewed date is updated. Corrections aren't hidden - a wrong result that's been fixed is a normal, expected part of maintaining a large reference site, not something to bury.
References
Where a calculator page cites a source, it's a real, checkable reference - a textbook, a standards body, or an established technical publication - not a placeholder or an invented citation.
Review dates
Each calculator page shows the date it was last reviewed. An older review date doesn't mean the page is wrong; it means it hasn't needed a fresh pass since that date. When a page receives a substantial content, formula, UX, or indexing-quality review, that date is updated so readers can see the maintenance history at a glance.
No fabricated expertise
This site doesn't invent author biographies, credentials, years of experience, or institutional affiliations to make a page look more authoritative than it is. See About for a plain description of who operates this site.
Advertising independence
Advertising, if and when it appears on this site, does not influence a formula, a calculated result, or an educational conclusion. Editorial content is decided independently of any advertising relationship.
